The New Year in Flowers … Part 2 Black Beauty

This post is one in a series of Journal entries documenting a fantastic day of photography earlier this year with the talented Emma Davies (emmadaviesphotography.com).

This collection of shots features the flowers with black backgrounds reminiscent of the Dutch Master flower paintings.  The black backdrop creates mood, depth and definition to the shapes and colours of the flowers.  The flowers become the subject and their beauty is seen with sharp clarity.  Each nuance, angle and natural inclination of the flower heads, foliage, buds and twigs are seen with intimate detail.  There is nowhere to hide; the camera catches the moment forever.
